Meditations on Civilization

A show of photography by Xan Blood Walker, Barry Barbour-Duncan, and Philip Lawson II, hanging in the cafe from May 10-June 14. This show is part of Pro Arts East Bay Open Studios - check out all the other great artists on this list while you're at it.

We're hosting an opening reception on June 1 from 5-7pm, with live music by Tim Kim (host of our monthly Low Down Throw Down music series).

What we’re about…
  • We like simple food and drink, prepared with a bit of love
  • We know our customers care about price, so we work hard to keep ours low
  • We buy locally, employ locally, and support our neighborhood however we can
  • We like art, music, bikes, and all the fascinating people around us
  • We think local businesses are important, because they create relationships that make us stronger, and give us variety that makes our lives more interesting
  • We have laptop-free weekends, because we think technology has given us great tools, but we need real interactions: not just the virtual kind, but the actual kind, too
  • We used to have a manifesto. Now we mostly have neighbors.
  • Actual Cafe…we are the people in your neighborhood
